A little this & that

I got to photograph my new little nephew, Orion, today! Ooo, he's kissable! I'll have his photos to share in a few days, since I'm still wrapping up editing on a couple other sessions.

Don't these desserts look so yummy? Or as Jude would say, "Delicious!" Last week I had the idea to get desserts and have a date night at home with Josh. It was really fun and super relaxing. After we kissed our sweet kids goodnight and turned the lights down low, we hung out on the couch with each other and a warm cup of tea. Josh says that these desserts totally represent the two of us. I love fruit, he loves chocolate. :) I think every night should be date night!

We ended up talking late into the night about life, our personalities, and God's goodness. I feel so blessed to be married to this great man. Ok, sorry, enough gushiness. :)

So, I always wonder if our living room would cause an interior decorator a heart attack. Can you tell I have commitment issues when it comes to color? If you were to paint my living room walls, what color would you choose? (This photo was taken at night, by the way. Oh, and I know so many of you are amazing at keeping your house beautifully clean, but if it makes some of you feel better my house is rarely this clean since having our precious little kids. Although, I learned the secret to a cleaner home last year - it's owning less stuff! And I feel like I'm continually working on getting rid of stuff.)

And lastly, I've always wanted a lilac bush, so I was so happy when our little bush produced it's first batch of flowers this year! Yay! I only had the heart to clip two large blooms, though. They smelled so wonderful. Also, I've had a couple people ask about the albums I buy that I just slip all my prints into. Here's a snap of them on my shelf.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I for one can't wait for Orion's photos, even though he spit up on me after the photo shoot - but he's way too precious to ever hold that against him! And can I also mention how adorable Jude and Selah were while I played with them, then strolled with them up & down the street; down to Safeway for a "treat" and on to Trader Joes to look around, all while their mommy took the much anticipated photos of their new baby cousin! Dare I say they were just about perfect angels? Lv you guys, gramma Chris

I love your review of your date night. Barbara and I made sure we had date nights all the years that we were raising four kids. It is really important.

Sorry, can't help with your color scheme. I am red/green color blind.

Oh, color for your living room...

I say a light garden green. Not sage. Not grass. Soothing, calm, light green.

When I was at your house you had that big frame (ikea I think) with Selah's picture in the snow. It was SO cute. Where is it? I am 100% in agreement with the own less stuff thing (duh, I'm Monica). Don't even get me started on wall colors ... ask Mauria I have had like 50 paint samples on my wall, but I can't commit because all of my dumb walls are connected to each other (not to mention about 5 times as tall as me.) I have told Mauria next time I ask to borrow her swatches to tell me "no!" :)

Such a cute couple and a cute house! I wish I could get rid of stuff. I just don't have the energy! I think a nice sage green (not too light or dark) or a latte color would be nice too!

bethany i just love that you photographed you and josh hanging out! after all, it's those moments that last forever, isn't it? where you just talk and aren't "doing" anything in particular, but just "being". by the way, i think your place is great, but if i had to suggest a color, i would say a warm rust. it would go great with your dark furniture.

You guys = cuteness! And by the way? Your house looks like something out of a magazine! We have WAAAY too much stuff for ours to look like that. But I can always be hopeful, we need to Craigslist some stuff this summer. We love you guys! Had such an awesome time this weekend with you!

Love your date night. Super cute. You two are adorable. Love your living room, its classically eclectic. Love the colors. If it were my living room I'd paint it a gray undertone, I saw it in a house this weekend and LOVED it! More gray then beige but not gray like dreary maybe a gray/beige kind of color depending on the light, looked amazingly rich. Then in the inset with the mirror I'd paint it a deep deep red. Saw those two colors together and got all excited for my next paint job. :) So yeah. Love it.

Oh and in ten years or so I think we'll need you for a wedding. Yep yep I do. Maybe four or so in the next twenty years...

Um not even sure where to begin! First of all that dessert will be in heaven I think... I will be the first in line to taste it :) Also you two are ADORABLE!!! I love the whole date night after putting the kids to bed, so much awesomeness! Thirdly, if you have any guys in So Cal who are looking for a wife to have late night dates with... just saying... fourth, I LOVE lilacs!!! OMG amazing and your house looks like a designers dream. I love what you did! As far as colors for the wall, I think a nice light brown would be pretty with what you have... I am not a huge bright color person for walls though. Um I think I just started rambling! Hope you are great :) Loved this post!

I love hearing other moms admit that their homes are rarely clean. Makes me feel much more normal. :) Thanks for the dose of reality!
