Hi, I'm Bethany!

Hi Everyone! Today I wanted to do something different! In a sense I want to say, "Hi, I'm Bethany, it's nice to meet you!"
I'd love to meet all of you who stop by here regularly or just pop in once in a while!
Being a blog follower myself (I have a handful of blogs I love to follow each day), I sometimes feel funny having this ability to pop in on someone else's world, that I totally begin to feel like I'm a part of!, but I rarely ever connect with the blogger. Sometimes I find myself telling Josh about these wonderful, or insanely talented, people I'm following, and they have no idea I'm taking notes over here on the other side of the world. :) The weirdest thing I find myself doing when blog reading, is sometimes I'll type out a comment and then change my mind about actually publishing it. I chicken out! I'm such a dork. Does anyone else ever do that?! :)

I remember a day, a couple years ago, when I was grocery shopping and pushing my kids down the isle with our cart, and I passed another mom with her kids. We looked at each other for a few seconds longer than the normal polite glance and she asked, "Are you Bethany?" And I asked, "Are you Lisa?"... we knew of each other from our blogs but didn't know we knew each other! So funny! It was wonderful to meet her in person! :)

Anyway, if you've been following along here for a while or just pop in once in a while, I'd love to meet you! Please make my day and say hi!

LOL! Too funny, Bethany. I feel the same way. I follow about 20 blogs and sometimes it can be weird to have such an intimate peek into people's lives. But I've also learned a lot about being a mom, photography, etc. from the blogs I read. Add this one to your list: www.kellehampton.com She is fantastic and one of my favorites to read. Also, if you get a chance, would you mind peeking at my blog and letting me know what you think of the new images I have taken with my 5D? I have about four posts with new photos. My friends and family all tell me they are wonderful... but they are supposed to.:) I would love a photographers eye to take a look at them. I am having a ball with the camera. Take Care!

Thanks for the link Prita! I'll totally check it out. I just looked at your blog and your daughters have the most beautiful eyes and you've captured them perfectly with your new 5D! Love the beautiful window light in your shots. Nice job! :)

Hi, Bethany. I'm Meg. I don't have a blog, but I follow quite a few. I don't even know how I found yours, but I do live in the Portland area, and enjoy seeing your photos.

Thanks for saying hi Meg! :)

I've been following your blog ever since you photographed my niece's family after we returned from Ethiopia. Your ability to capture them in their natural state (fun loving and in love) took my breath away. Keep up the great work...it's a treat to see new posts.

Hi, my name is Gloria and I've been following your blog for a few months. I live in Ontario Canada.
I've (somewhat) set up a blog but I haven't posted anything.
I'm really interested in photography but I don't have a DSLR (it's on my wish list), I just have a Canon Powershot. I did do a (my first-ever) photo shoot with my (very photogenic, in my opinion) little sister, maybe I'll post it sometime and I'd love to know what you think!
Someone mentioned Kelle Hampton's blog, I read hers too and it's one of my favorites!
Oh, I found your blog through friends of friends of friends of friends. Or something like that!
Got to go!

Hi Bethany! As you know, I've been following your blog(s) since you photographed Amber & Leticia's families, and then took a particular interest when you went gluten-free because that's our life now too! Thank you for helping me -- and my little Finn -- on our g-free journey!

B! What a fun blog post. I always wonder who out there reads about my family. I am so so glad I saw you in winco that day and I am so thankful to now call you my friend, I am a blog stalker and a BIG fan. xo

Thanks for the sweet comment Robin! You must be related to Bethany - love that family!!

Gloria, keep shooting every day with the camera you have and you'll get better and better! Try shooting some pictures of your little sister standing right next to a window or in the front doorway of your house - the lighting there is always pretty.

Kate, I love following your blog and seeing your adorable children! G-free moms unite! :)

Lisa, I'm so glad we bumped into each other that day because it's been wonderful getting to know you and I just adore your family. So thankful we're friends too!

Hi Bethany! What a fun idea. And I totally do that with comments, too! I have no idea how I came across your blog, but I've been following for a while...all the way from North Carolina. I pretty much love it! And your photos! :)

Bethany ~ What a great idea to find out more about who reads your blog! I too often wonder who's keeping up on our family blog. And, as for your description of chickening out when writing comments... I SO do that too! I'm not sure why, since I know how much I always love and appreciate every comment that shows up on my blog. Anyways, your blog is one of my favorites and I especially love the personal posts of your sweet family. We should get together again this winter and have the kids play! Thanks for all the great pictures that you've captured of my family and my siblings too. I look forward to many more :)

Hi Bethany! What a great idea! I love your blog and especially love how incredibly you captured my family and two of my siblings' families/wedding. It's fun to see that I know at least 3 of the people who have commented on this post and didn't know that they followed you too. Fun! I look forward to seeing your beautiful kids grow and to many more inspiring photos!

I'm here too! As I check my sisters' (Amber and Leticia) blogs every day, I check to see if you have any updates. I love your photos but more than anything, I love "seeing" your heart for our God as you love your family and those you serve by photographing them.

Emily, I just looked at your blog and love the content and learning a bit more about you from your "about the author" section! We have a lot of the same interests. My uncle lives in North Carolina and I've always wanted to visit. Maybe someday!

Amber, Leticia & Marilyn - you ladies seriously have such an amazing family! It's an honor to get to capture little seasons of your lives! Thanks for your sweet comments! And Amber, yes, I'd love to get together again!

Allie - yes you should! :) We need to get together soon to talk shop and enjoy some tea!

Ellen! Yes, I remember you taking some Wonderful photos for Chelsi & Eric when they lived near you! Ah, Boston, another place I want to see someday! Seeing all of Chelsi's pictures from there and her stories of the beautiful streets and places she'd visit, made me always want to just buy a plane ticket and go! :) Thanks for saying Hi!

Allison, thanks for introducing yourself and for leaving me such an encouraging comment! :) Maybe we'll cross paths one day both being here in Portland! God bless you too.

Janelle, thanks for saying hi and your kind words! I love the Coleman family! Blessings to you too. :)

Chelsi, we should buy houses next door to each other and attempt time travel, dance to music, pick cute boys out of yearbooks and make movies. :) Yes, we'd be best friends. Oh and Sheri can pop by and dress like Newsies.

In all seriousness, your blog is actually my FAVORITE! :)

You know I read your blog. But here I am...saying hello. That is the funniest feeling when you "know" someone but don't know them.

Hi Bethany! We don't know each other, but you take fantastic pictures of some of my favorite people (Coleman's, Rider's, etc) so I have been following your blog for a while. And if I lived in the Portland area you would be taking pictures of my family too.

Hi Bethany!
I've emailed with you before- used to live in OR and attend CCC but now in SC with our family. In any event, I love having you in my "reader"...love your eye for photos and would love more than anything to shadow you one of these days! I do feel the same way- weird at reading people and not "knowing" them, but appreciating what they have to say or post! I'm always inspired by your photography!

Bethany, hi, I'm Katy and it's nice to meet you. I've been secretly following your blog for quite some time, admiring your wonderful photography and the way that you amazingly capture the heart of people in your photographs. You have taken a few photos of a friend of mine and her family and I followed the link to you one day and was hooked. I'm all the way in MN, otherwise I'd want you to come shoot our family. Your blog is a blessing and joy in my day when I log on. Blessings to you!

Hey Bethany!
I first discovered your blog in 2009 when you photographed my friends Ian and Sarah Nelson! You did such a great job and I was instantly hooked to your work. Then you photographed Brooke Callis' senior pictures and Karen told me that you used to babysit her kids! The Callis family is like a second family to me so it is cool to have that connection. You have a beautiful family and I love that you all love Jesus! I don't really use blogger very much but I have tumblr that I use to post what the Lord has been encouraging me with--http://evangelineismyname.tumblr.com/

It was nice "meeting" you :)
