I remember the first time I ever photographed a little toddler boy. It was a couple years ago, before I had one of my own (Jude was probably only 6 months old) and I cried on the drive home after the shoot! Ha, ha! I thought I had failed and wondered, "how do you control little boys?" Well, now that I've had one of my own for quite a while, I not only love photographing little guys, but I also know that you don't "control" them. :) The first 5-10 minutes of shooting are probably the best/only pictures you are going to get of them sitting still or in a posed picture. From there on out you just play, run along side them, and shoot whatever they are doing. This is really true of most toddlers, but especially little guys. :) And I love capturing their happy spirits.
Speaking of happy spirits, I love getting to see Jen & Mike and their super cute Derek. What a joyful family. Jen is expecting twin boys and Derek will get to be a big brother in a few months! How exciting is that? I bet they'll be just as handsome as Derek is!
My favorite shot...

BEAUTIFUL! Jen, you look gorgeous! I also LOVE the black and white on the fence!
okay bethany i just read your post about canasta and springsteen. we've got to play canasta sometime! it's my absolute favorite card game, too, and you're right; it's so hard to play and not be competitive. there is no worse feeling than someone else picking up that blessed pile of cards. i loved the post; thanks for the memories!
